As part of an introduction to humanities research in Undergraduate studies (UGS303). I wrote an inquiry titled “Addressing the Discrimination of the Differently Abled.” As part of this semester-long assignment, I was required to choose an “archived object” and connect it to contemporary society or a modern-day issue. I chose an etched 17th century print by a Spanish artist, Jusepe de Ribera. The print depicts a man with doiter. From its title – “The Large Grotesque Head (Man with Goiter)” – I linked it to the issue of discrimination based on disability.
